Dark Continent, The

The dark continent is a volcanic sub-continent off the west coast of North America known by the names Angel Isle, Montalvo, and Insula Aurea. Once the fabled country of black amazons and craggy costal breakers, Aurea was frequently troubled by violent tremors and known to be under a terrible curse. A desolate and vitriolic wasteland, the island remained uninhabited for the duration of the Empire's reign. In 203 BK, the Dapper Fools built a Banner-Kre├člich Plant on the island to power a secret research facility. The Makers on Aurea eventually became estranged from their brethren on account of the island's remoteness and perhaps a certain elitist indifference that set in with the abuse of Absitolide. On Aurea, the Makers discovered the latter arts of Summoning and Mogriform through accidents and experimentation.

In 505 BK, an earth-quake destroyed the BK plant on Aurea causing a loss of Danzig containment. Gloom envelopes the entire island to this day and few remember any name for the place other than The Dark Continent. The surface of the island is wholly transformed, now home to creatures loosed from disturbed experiments. Some believe that the island is now the home of griffins, Makers that escaped death through mogrify.
