The Dapper Fools

The term was originally derogatory slang for the Makers, as their first loose alliance had a habit of dressing in slightly outdated formalwear. When they began to split into factions the core and biggest group still retained this fashion sense and thus the moniker remained. The term was eventually adopted as official, and the Dapper Fools became neutral, distancing themselves from both Chapel and Patriarchiat. By no means lacking an agenda, they took pride in the fact that they functioned as lynch-pins for their nation’s economy, often taking manners into their own hands for ensuring its stability.

Favoring the clandestine and the passive, the Fools never openly took sides or made actions, but through working behind the scenes (see Scheherazade) resolved any problems that arose. This eventually became common knowledge, and though many resented their autonomy, no-one could doubt their effectiveness.

In a time of a darkening political climate, the Fools managed a light-hearted and clever prank war with the Wizards (see Ziggy the Wondrous Ferret). Their neutrality was eventually their downfall, as they became a common enemy to two sides they refused to join. The last vestiges of the Fools disappeared in 1289, never to be heard from again.
